meet the team

Dennis Claire, COO

Meet Dr. Dennis Claire, COO, our Chief Outdoor Officer.

From New York, I’ve lived most of my life in northern New England. With my Bachelor’s degree in Biology, I have always looked at life through the lens of evolution and ecology. Spending as much of my life as possible outside, and with backgrounds in teaching and coaching, podiatry became an attractive career to combine science, the outdoors and endurance sport through the appendage that connects us to our environment.

My father was an English professor and traditional Irish séanachie (storyteller) and through him I learned the art of listening and connection through community. My unique background has enabled the development of skills that require experience and patience. With this background, I particularly enjoy treating foot emergencies and tending to athletes and children.

When I am not working, I will most certainly be outside training for the next endurance challenge, or enjoying the outdoors or home life with my wife, Lindsay, and sons Denny and Ronan, reading fiction and nonfiction, and occasionally fly-fishing. I volunteer with national and local organizations in the medical, sports and outdoor arenas, including the NFED (national Foundation for Ectodermal dysplasias), Granite Backcountry, ORYA (Oyster river youth association), Ski the Whites, IIRM (international institute of Race medicine), and maintain memberships with AAC (American alpine club), USA Cycling, Cöos trails, and Crow Athletics

dr. jim dolan, CFW

Meet Dr. Jim Dolan, CFW, our Chief Foot Whisperer.

Born in Mexico, raised in Connecticut.

I started my medical career as a registered nurse at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

I chose Podiatry as my path after shadowing my Uncle Gerald, a podiatrist in Darien, Connecticut.

I have worked in many different settings across the state of New Hampshire, from small community care clinics to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

I have boiled down 30 years of practice to simple, effective treatments designed to return you to the activities you love.

I am trained as a surgeon but perform no surgery, believing the way I can best improve your health is focusing on simple, noninvasive techniques to make you better.

I live in the community that I work in - downtown Exeter, to be exact - and look forward to meeting and helping new friends and neighbors.

dr. Julie shaheen, Ceo

Meet Dr. Julie Shaheen, CEO, our Chief Esthetic Officer.

I practiced podiatry in The Seacoast for more than six years, leaving a busy practice to dedicate time to my growing family. I returned to podiatry in 2018 with the opening of Barefoot, while raising my three children.

Originally from Philadelphia, I moved to New Hampshire as a child. After receiving my bachelor’s degree at Assumption College in Worcester, MA, I continued my education at Temple University’s School of Podiatric Medicine. I earned my Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 2006 and completed a Podiatric Residency in 2008 at St. Vincent Hospital.

I live in Stratham with my husband and children and enjoy baking, exercising, growing fruits and vegetables, spending time with my family, and trying new foods in my travels.

What I really enjoy about practicing podiatry is educating patients and making them feel better about their feet, which ultimately reflects how they feel about themselves.
